Why Won't My Wolf Downdraft Rise?
When a Wolf downdraft stays down, rule out the simple causes before the lift itself: a tripped breaker, a control module the unit is not hearing, or a filter or grille not seated. Two-Minute Check
Run it in order. Nothing here needs a panel off, a ladder or a wire touched.
- Press UP/DOWN once on the control module and wait — the chimney should begin to rise and the blower start at its last speed.
- Look at the module: no lights at all points to power, while lights and a running blower with the chimney still down point to the lift.
- Switch the downdraft's breaker off for ten seconds, then back on, and press UP/DOWN again.
- Clear anything resting on or against the top trim, and check the filters and grille are pushed fully home.
- Leave the chimney alone if it still will not move — Wolf warns against forcing it up by hand.

What lifts it
The chimney is driven up and down by a small gear motor working through a crank, and limit switches in the lift tell the control where the chimney is.
Wolf’s own list of causes runs from the power supply and the control cable, through that motor and crank, to a chimney knocked out of alignment.
When to call
A chimney that rises partway, grinds, or climbs crooked has a mechanical fault. One stuck fully down has to be taken apart to repair — not a job to attempt yourself.
